Orange, Cactus, planets

This page from late 2018 features a collection of mini designs, including a stylized potted cactus, a slice of citrus, and a dense, circular window into deep space. At this stage in the studio diary, I was deeply fascinated by mini "flash sheet" layouts, creating compact artworks that pack a massive amount of punch in a small space.

The challenge here was scaling down the stippling technique to fit within small boundaries without losing the clarity of the design.

Hand-inked by focusing on clean, solid outlines for the cactus and outer circles, then filling the space elements with an ultra-dense field of tiny black dots to mimic the endless depth of a starry night sky.

This sheet represents a period of rapid-fire brainstorming and technical practice. Working on smaller, individual icons allowed me to play with different textures, like the grainy prickles of a desert cactus versus the smooth gradients of planets, all on a single page.
